About the Event
MUMS seminar: Vacation Scholars Edition
Over the summer, top undergraduate maths students participated in the Vacation Scholars Research Program and had the opportunity to conduct research. In this seminar, 3 Vacation Scholars will present their research for you all to enjoy! These scholars were selected for their particularly clear and insightful presentations, and their accessibility to first year math students.
The schedule is as follows:
1:15 - 1:30, Hannah Chesterman: Sandpile models for self-organised criticality
1:30 - 1:45, Daniel Freidgeim: Stochastic Modelling of Bird Populations in 2 Regions of a Small Island
1:45 - 2:00, Luis Fennessy: Disaster resilience: Augmenting a cycle for planar 3-connectivity
2:00 - 2:15, Questions, networking in the foyer.
Time & Date: Tuesday 8th of March 1:15-2:15 pm
Location: PAR-Alan Gilbert-120 (Theatre 4)
Note on location:
The Alan Gilbert building is quite difficult to navigate to due to construction, hence the start time of 1:15 pm allowing for 15 minutes to walk there. Attached is a fairly accurate map, although the gap in construction that you can pass through is located a bit further south.
Not on campus? No worries! This is a dual delivery seminar, meaning you can join from Zoom below!
