Hello MUMSters! You all will have recieved an email with notice that MUMS will be holding our next AGM on Thursday the 28th of August. If you're interested in getting more involved with the society, please come on by! Otherwise, lets check out what's on the schedule for week 5 and beyond :) **Competition Math Catchups** Date: Wednesday 27th of August Time: 5:30-7:30pm Location: Peter Hall G10 At our Competition Math Catchups, you can enjoy some free food while you work through tough competition problems with your friends! If you’ve never heard of competition math before, no worries – we’ll help you through some of the tricky ideas and concepts! Teaser question: Does there exist a non-rectangular parallelepiped, where the square of its volume is equal to the product of areas of its three faces sharing a common vertex? **Womxn in Math Coffee Catchups** Date: Thursday 28th of August Time: 1:30-2:30pm Location: Castro’s kiosk Come down to our Coffee Catchups to meet and socialise with other women and non-binary folk who share your love of mathematics. Everyone is welcome, and best of all -- there’s free coffee! (and plenty of other drinks for those not yet ensnared by caffeine) **Coming up: University Math Olympiad** Date: Wednesday 10th of September Time: 5:30pm Location: JH Mitchell Lecture Theatre The UMO is a fast-paced competition that combines mathematical problem-solving ability with physical activity and teamwork.
